Environmentalists target blind people

ECOstrive – According to an AP article this morning, Hybrid and electric vehicles are too quiet for the blind.

This complaint by the NFB has caused the radical environmentalists to send threats to NFB President Marc Maurer suggesting that the members of his group should be the first to drown when sea levels rise from global warming. This is a perfect example of the lack of tolerance of these supposedly tolerant environmental groups.

Because hybrids make virtually no noise at slower speeds when they run solely on electric power, blind people say they pose a hazard to those who rely on their ears to determine whether it’s safe to cross the street or walk through a parking lot.

The National Federation of the Blind’s Committee on Automotive and Pedestrian Safety performed unscientific tests to determine the safety of these vehicles. These tests involved people standing in parking lots or on sidewalks who were asked to signal when they heard several different hybrid models drive by.

“People were making comments like, ‘When are they going to start the test?’ And it would turn out that the vehicle had already done two or three laps around the parking lot,” said Deborah Kent Stein, chairwoman of the NFB’s committee.

No one is suggesting the removal of hybrid or electric cars due to their silence. The NFB is simply asking for a solution that would provide similar warning as a combustion powered vehicle would provide for the blind. This could be as simple as installing a small speaker in the grill that makes a low whirring noise.

Bottom line, people (blind, or not) are killed by vehicles (hybrid, or not) every day. Raising an issue that could improve safety and lower the risk of death or injury does not warrant the radical environmental groups wishing ill will on the group of individuals who raised the issue. This leads to the assumption that the Environmental Radicals want everyone to perish except for themselves.
