31,000 Scientists say Wake Up People!

ECOstrive – There is a new consensus on global climate change. Over 31,000 scientists, including over 9,000 with PhDs have signed a petition to reject the Kyoto Protocol and any future climate related treaties. These scientist are experts in their fields and well outnumber the 600 or so “authors” on the IPCC panel.

These 31,000 scientists have peer reviewed this 12-page review article about the human-caused global warming hypothesis that is circulated with the petition.

Koyoto Rejection Petition

Bottom line is that these scientists agree that the we are warming. In fact, we are starting to approach the mean temperature prior to the “mini-Ice Age”. They also agree that there is no correlation between the climate cycles and greenhouse gas emissions by humans.

The petition is a very simple one. It urges the United States Government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals.

The petition states that the proposed limits would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. It also states that there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.

Below are some slides that highlight the main points of the article:

The above slide shows how the temperature is currently below the 3,000 year average and well below the Medieval Climate Optimum (when the Vikings were living, growing crops and livestock, and launching big ships from Greenland and Iceland). I have said this in several articles on this site. How do you explain the fossils of Cyprus forests in northern Europe? Cyprus trees do not weather winter at all.

This slide shows that Glaciers began shortening before hydrocarbon use and is therefore not caused by hydrocarbon usage by humans.

This slide shows that temperature change correlates with solar activity, not hydrocarbon use.

Hopefully this shows that we should stop the panic, and start concentrating on the important things like efficient energy conversion to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. I have always said “Why invest in a fuel that we are going to run out of anyway”? Lets work for a positive outcome. Since it looks like history shows us that the water is getting warmer, so we might as well swim.

  1. This is the Oregon Petition, a long ago debunked effort by climate change denialists to pretend that there is substantial disagreement in the scientific community over AGW. There is not – every reputable scientific organization and national government now accepts that some version of man-made global warming is occurring.

You demean yourself and your blog by posting it.

  2. Rex has correctly summed up the situation. By rehashing material from a thoroughly debunked screed, you are demeaning your blog and, worse, conservative environmentalists everywhere.

  3. Debunked by who? Al Gore? Some of the only 600 scientists in the IPCC panel? This report and the graphs above use a super set of the very same data that alarmist use to prove the warming theory.
